This post goes out to the (@nyrr#GroupTraining community) ones I looooooove ( <— that part was meant to be sung! 🎤). With barely two days in the rearview mirror from this year’s #UnitedNYCHalf I’ve had time to reflect on not only what a fun course and great event it was but more about what a fantastic community of runners we have! Three days straight of course strategy allowed me the opportunity to give thousands of runners (both local and those visiting) a peace of mind. There was a lot of talk about the new course and how tough it would be. I had the privilege of pacing my friend: @moazzambrohi to a gutty performance AND personal best, despite him not feeling quite 100% healthy. It was also great organizing three of our four fastest women together for a fantastic effort in: @ola_zieminska , @jessnachman & @mann.barbara #WonderWomen 💪🏽. The only one (kinda) missing there was @annaerobicann who decided to wisely run marathon effort ahead of next month’s #BostonMarathon 👍🏽. I could go on and on, but I won’t... thanks to our Group Training coaches for helping and inspiring our runners out there this past weekend and every week throughout the year! Our runners are fortunate to have you all. Thanks to our #CentralParkNYC leader: Stuart Calderwood aka @xeniades17 for compiling this lengthy list of results and improvements from the weekend. This is merely representative of Central Park, we’ve got even more success stories out there from our other parks and boroughs. Thank you runners, thank you coaches. Yesterday was cloudy and windy and dark. Or at least that’s how I felt on the inside. My run was just meeehhhhh...my day was not so good. Today the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and everything is wonderful. And yet both days are a part of me and make up part of who I am. *
If life was only sunshine, it would be like listening to a song with the treble turned all the way up—all tinny and obnoxious like AM radio 😉. Without those mid tones and bass to smooth and enrich the song. We may not like the darkness, but without it we can’t appreciate the light. And we may not like the bad days, or the bad runs, but when you have a good run the next day, it feels glorious. *
A wise man once told me that you’re either headed into a storm, in the middle of a storm, or coming out of one. But it’s all life and there can still be joy in it, no matter where you are. So let’s #embracelife and squeeze all we can out of it today :)

Can we chat for a moment about skin? 🤔
Obviously we ALL have skin. Depending on your personal journey in life, your skin may have traveled a different road than others. For example, I'm a mommy of two beautiful humans and have gained and lost 5️⃣0️⃣ pounds more than once. That can do a number on your skin, and depending on your age and genetics it may recover differently.
When I am standing up straight, it doesn't seem like I have a whole lot of extra loose skin, but a forward fold position tells the tale. These two pictures were taken moments apart after my workout this morning (and my REFEED DAY 🍩 I might add). I'm no less of a person in forward fold than I am standing with abs flexed - that sounds rather obsurd to even type doesn't it? So whyyyyy do we judge ourselves based on these things?
Look I will be the first to encourage you to eat healthy and exercise because that is good for you but at the end of the day it does not change who you are or how amazing you are. You are beautiful just as you are right now. 😘

My scars show pain and suffering, but they also show my will to survive.
I show my scars so you may know that you will heal.
You can more than survive, you can thrive.
For too long I carried around shame and tried to cover up my scars, not just on the outside, but the emotional scars too. But perfection is not part of the Divine plan, so we can take our experiences and grow from them, move beyond the shame of them, and celebrate what they have taught us instead.
Our trials and tribulations enrich who we are now, and through the many experiences we’ve survived, we have been prepared to help others, to perhaps smooth the way for another who is searching for a new direction, or searching for the light at the end of the tunnel.
We can let go of the shame and instead use our trials to help another to smoother sailing. Wishing you some smooth sailing today!

I’d lie if I said the last week has been easy. Just had to drop my dear pup off for his 3rd surgery this week. It’s definitely been emotional, but I know that good will come out of this if I’m just patient and wait. On a more positive note - today is day 1 of this super fun challenge! We’re jumping off today with any • SEATED POSE • of your choice. I chose to work on my hanumanasana / splits today. 💜

#POTUS proclaimed and signed a piece of legislation enforcing tariffs in the imports of steel and aluminium.
I do not support import tariffs. Though I don't pretend to be an expert in the matter, I support a free and fair trade, especially international trade. I don't think charging people to sell you goods is a good business plan. Also if you do have some valid insight on the subject, your respectful input would be appreciated.
If you support Trump because he's not Hillary, go home and rethink your position. If you support him because he cuts taxes and gets things done, good. But if you blindly support him because he is not on the left (and you hate the left) then please stop and look. This is another form of identity politics and you're the perpetrator.

Waking up sick was not how I envisioned our first day in Michigan to go, but after taking it a little easier this morning-I knew a good sweat session was exactly what I needed. 💪🏽 Always listen to your body, but I’m glad I worked up a sweat. Working to sexually empower WOC is especially meaningful for me because I grew up watching so many immigrant women, including my Mom, disrespected and discriminated against.
I remember yelling, crying, imploring my Mom to stand up to the racists she had to deal with in the workplace, but she always chose to remain silent. Now that I look back I know it wasn’t fear as much as it was conditioning and a survival tactic.
Her silence however mobilized me.
And when I wear this T-shirt, it often sparks up a conversation and I use this opportunity to talk about sexual empowerment in the Latin community. My message is met with both approval and resistance. For so many - changing how we and our families view sexuality is so scary to take on. Most people would rather die than talk about female sexuality. And as a first generation American - I know firsthand how my family would have reacted to my work.
I know sexual healing and empowerment is a message that takes some people time to warm up to. Most people think sexual empowerment just means having a decent sex life. It’s not. It’s about our voices and the courage it takes to demand changes in our society - especially where politics and religion are concerned.
But it’s happening and more people are beginning to see how damaging sexual oppression is, especially when it comes to empowering our children and preparing them for life.
I can’t help but think of how far I’ve come in terms of courage to talk about Clit Sit and all things sexual.
