Huge principle I try to live by but especially applicable today. In this crowded gym I can either wait around for the equipment I want or adjust to what is in front of me and get to work. For one of today’s superset I found myself behind the deadlift platform between the squat rack 😂. No shame. Quads, shoulders, glutes/hams. Narrow #squats, military press, #RDL with 110lb BB. 4x10x10x10 #ControlYourCircumstance #WantItLikeYouSayYouDo

In my current read “Intentional Living” - John C. Maxwell, he’s talking about putting yourself in other peoples shoes. I’m dealing with the same crowds a lot of you are and sometimes I get caught up in the frustration but I also know how scary it can be to be a new gym goer trying to jump start your fitness. So, I’ve made it a goal to smile and say hi to new faces. Cause I’ve been in their shoes. BTW, highly recommend this book. #WantItLikeYouSayYouDo

  • Another quick “Crowded Gym Super set”. Chest and back. I like doing these types of supersets cause I can be more efficient with my time. I train early and gotta be home in time to help get my kids breakfast for school before I head off to work. So time is of the essence. That said I try and minimize rest so I can keep my heart rate up to meet my calorie burn goal. Most of the time this means I’m doing much less weight than some would assume. Typically I’m doing 3-5 sets at a rep range of 10-25 depending. I try not to tie up any machine too long so the next person can use it but this also means I’ve got to adjust on the fly a lot. Because of this I’ve pretty much been full body work every day. #WantItLikeYouSayYouDo

  • Here’s a Waaaay Back Wednesday. I don’t remember the specific year lol. I think maybe 2012 at the Utah Fall NPC. Before Team Fleks, before anyone really knew I was competing. The only ones I invited to the show was my immediate family and the only person back stage with me was my little brother. He had to rub my whole body with Dream Tan. lol. You can hear my wife, mom and dad cheering for me. My family all down for each other like that. There was a time where doing something like this seemed so outta my reach and even more so in a small very conservative community like the Polynesian community I caught a lot of flack at first. One time early on when I told a friend I was dieting to do bodybuilding he said “I bet you don’t last 30 days.” Lol I was so butt hurt but at that point I was already dialed in. I think I actively competed from 2009-2014 on stage. What a rush. Is it for everyone? No, but it started out as a goal, a resolution and something not everyone around me understood or even believed I could do. Thats including myself. These principles have applied across all areas of my life in many ways. So to the new year and the our new goals I say let’s turn some make a decision and commit. For those embarking on your new fitness goals I’m excited for you! Don’t let anyone stop you not even yourself. #WantItLikeYouSayYouDo

  • Unlike most the negative comments about resolutions I do have my own New Years goals but those are personal so I ain’t gonna blast em but I also have habits that I’ll continue with. Getting up to workout a 5am isn’t about motivation for me, it just is. It’s a norm . Now with 6 kids I’ve had a struggle with balance and at times still get an ear full from my wife, but she also knows if I don’t get my time in that I’ll cry and whine more than all my babies combined. So 5am just works best for my situation but it also helps that lifting weights is something that I really enjoy. To ensure I’m pushing myself each workout I have a set goal of 1000 calories burned in 1.5 hr workout. I’ve found myself really having to push to meet that goal. This also includes 30min of warm up for me. Sometimes I hit my number sometimes I don’t but it keeps me conscious of my effort. Now with the new year I hope we all hold on to good habits and make them norms as we also create new ones in our effort to progress in 2018. In regards to exercise find something that’s fun and enjoyable for you and also in health, Faith, family, knowledge and love. #WantItLikeYouSayYouDo

Usually 4-5 sets then I’ll move on so I’m not that dickhead camped out for an hour on 1 machine. With supersets I’m usually trying to hit opposite muscles, if possible,to minimize need for rest. If you can land a bench take advantage 😂. Here with #biceps and #triceps. #WantItLikeYouSayYouDo

We had many conversations where he had me ready to run through walls. I talk so much about want it like you say you do but this guy lives it daily.
